SLUDGE DEWATERING SCREW PRESS FOR BREWERY WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Beer, as the oldest alcoholic beverage, is the third most consumed consumer beverage in the world. Since the 1980s, China's beer industry has developed rapidly but at the same time, the treatment and discharge of wastewater from brewery has become an increasingly prominent environmental issue.

Beer requires a huge amount of water in the production process, especially in the brewing and canning processes, where a large amount of fresh water is used, resulting in a large amount of wastewater. It is estimated that for every 1 liter of beer produced, 3-10 liters of wastewater will be generated. The wastewater from brewery mainly contains organic substances such as sugars and alcohols, with a high concentration of organic substances. Although non-toxic, it is prone to decay. If discharged, it will consume a large amount of dissolved oxygen, causing serious pollution to the water environment.

How to efficiently treat wastewater from brewery has always been a key issue that breweries attach great importance to. In recent years, TeChase sludge dewatering screw press has been widely applied and developed in the brewery wastewater treatment, one case study shared as followings.

A Brewery Sludge Dewatering Project
The project uses TeChase TC454 screw press. The sludge and reagents are flocculated in a flocculation mixing tank and then enter the dewatering body. Then the outlet moisture content of the sludge is 80%, solving the problem of on-site sludge treatment and disposal.

And with the updating and upgrading of new materials, TeChase continues to innovate. The project adopts the "King of New Materials" CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics) ring, which has better corrosion resistance and wear resistance compared to traditional stainless steel 304. For brewery wastewater that is prone to decay, it has better treatment efficiency and equipment usage experience.

Technical advantages:
1. CFRP rings do not react with acid, alkali, or salt, and have excellent corrosion resistance. Compared with stainless steel 316 or even duplex steel, CFRP rings, it not only improves product performance and lifespan, but also significantly reduces investment and maintenance costs. 
2. The screw press occupies a small area and has a high degree of automation. It can achieve remotely one click start and stop, which is easy to operate and labor-saving.
3. Energy saving and electricity saving, with extremely low operating costs. The rotation speed of the screw shaft is only 2-4r/min, and the power of a single equipment is less than 5kW. Its average energy consumption is about 1/8 of that of a belt conveyor and 1/20 of that of a centrifuge.
4. Screw shaft overlay welding of super wear-resistant hard alloy layer, its overlay welding thickness is 100-150 times that of ordinary spraying process, greatly extending the service life of the equipment and reducing maintenance frequency.
