Background: In general, landfill leachate is defined as any contaminated liquid effluent percolating through deposited waste and emitted within a landfill or dump site through external sources, of which its route of exposure and toxicity often remains unknown. It is characterized by high organic and inorganic pollutant concentrations (Bodzek et al., 2006) and is extremely toxic to the environment. The significant impacts of landfill leachate could be eutrophication of aquatic systems and toxic effects on fauna which are caused by a variety of contaminants (Lavrova and Koumanova, 2010).
The treatment of landfill leachate has always been a key issue in the environmental protection industry. Because the leachate has complex quality and strong corrosion, the anti-corrosion ability of the leachate treatment system directly affects the equipment treatment effect and subsequent follow-up.
