Pharmaceutical sludge
Compared with general industrial sludge, according to a large number of toxic and harmful substances such as inorganic salts, heavy metals and pathogenic microorganisms which is obtained in the discharged wastewater by the pharmaceutical industry, the composition of pharmaceutical sludge becomes more complex and more difficult to deal with. Untreated pharmaceutical sludge is harmful, and easy to cause the water、soil and air pollution, endangers human health, and cause the serious secondary pollution. Therefore, the treatment of pharmaceutical sludge has become the main difficulty of sludge treatment at this stage!
On this national trip, Techase came to the project site of WuXi AppTec Suzhou Branch, which is a fortune 500 company, to dry and reduce the amount of pharmaceutical sludge in the factory area. It is said that pharmaceutical sludge is difficult to deal with, so how does Techase show his skills on the spot? Let's take a look!

 

01 Project Overview
Suzhou WuXi AppTec New Drug Development Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of WuXi AppTec, which is mainly engaged in drug safety evaluation (toxicology, pharmacology, drug metabolism), tumor new drug research and development, medical device testing and other businesses. This project is mainly about the low-temperature sludge drying transformation project of pharmaceutical sludge in the factory area. The daily treatment capacity of sludge in the factory area is 1t/d, and the original sludge dewatering machine was used by the Techase screw press, but the dewatering effect was not suitable for the actual standard demand, and then the Techase low temperature sludge dryer was carried out. The project adopts Techase TCSD1200AC low-temperature sludge dryer, which can be seamlessly connected with the Techase screw press in the factory area, and the sludge with a moisture content of about 80% to 85% after the dehydration of the screw press is dried to a moisture content of 30%, and finally the purpose of drying and reducing the amount of sludge in the factory area is finally realized, and the dry sludge after drying is loaded and transported for disposal. The sludge drying transformation project not only solves the problem of difficult treatment of pharmaceutical sludge in the factory area, but also helps the green and low-carbon development and construction of pharmaceutical enterprises to a large extent.
 



In the sludge dewatering link, we must not only pursue the drying and reduction of sludge, but also pay attention to safe production. The low-temperature drying technology adopted by Techase, the temperature during the drying process is below 70 °C, the discharge is strip or granular, the material has no friction with the drying equipment, no static electricity generation, no dust in the drying warehouse, and no dust explosion risk in the whole production process, and high safety. And because of the special composition of pharmaceutical sludge, Techase strives for excellence in equipment selection, and the condenser and evaporator of the equipment use dual anti-corrosion materials to ensure the long-term operation of the equipment. And the use of closed drying mode, the air internal circulation self-return air filtration, no odor spillover on the spot, no need to configure deodorization and flue gas treatment devices. While achieving safe production, the entire system operates stably and the investment cost is low.
 


02 Process flow 
After the pharmaceutical sludge in the factory area is dewatered by the Techase multi plate screw press, the moisture content is about 80% to 85%, and after the sludge enters the cache silo, it is transported by the screw conveyor to the Techase low-temperature sludge dryer for systematic drying treatment, and the dry sludge moisture content after drying is about 30%, and then transported to the dried sludge storage bin by the screw conveyor, and finally loaded and transported for disposal.
